Due to anonymous noise complaints from a few neighbors, the James Street Gastropub and Speakeasy in the North Side will close on November 11th. Even after spending $25,000 in renovations to control the sound emanating from the building including sound proofing and air conditioning so they could close all the windows the complaints continued.
They were even cited by the State Police Bureau of Liquor Control in the middle of the Deutschtown Music Festival last year during the line up of outdoor street performances.
City Councilwoman Darlene Harris, whose district includes James Street, tweeted that she's looking into the situation. Mayor Bill Peduto as offered to try to mediate the situation with neighbors in an attempt to keep the tavern open.
An Online petition was started to keep the James Street Gastropub open.
