The Hop House - North |
5510 Babcock Blvd Pittsburgh, PA 15237 Phone: 412-366-3606
This is the second Hop House in Pittsburgh with the other in Greentree.
Much like its sister bar this place has a custom built wood fired brick oven where they make wonderful breads, pretzels, pizzas...
This place is more of a sports bar than anything else, they have plenty of pool tables, good food and they also have one of the areas best selections of beer which isn't bad either - I counted

D's Six Pax & Dogz |
1118 South Braddock Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15218 Phone: 412-241-4666
I really like to go to D's it's one of my favorite bars and it's within walking distance to my house which makes it even better! When they first opened there was a smallish bar, great hot dogs and numerous coolers and a back room with somewhat organized chaos of many many beers from around the world. Some years later they have over 5 signature hot dogs, hoagies, some of the finest traditional

St. James Place Tavern |
153 South 18th Street Pittsburgh, PA 15203 Phone: 412-431-3222
Back when I first started hitting Southside bars, one of my favorite places to stop was
Jack's on 18th.
A few years later it was sold and then became Bar Southside.
It slowly
but surely started to suck.
The dark interior and black paint didn't really match the
rest of the bar, and pulling out the pool tables to make room for dancing left
backroom empty most of the week.
Now that the

The BeerHive |
2117 Penn Avenue Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15222 Phone: 412-904-4502
The BeerHive has the feel of a bottleshop combined with neighborhood
bar.
Located in the strip district, it has much more to checkout than
just beer.
Its a great spot to watch local sports as well as checking
out local art.
Every month there is a local art gallery provided by a
rotation of Pittsburgh artists.
I only had appetizers on my visit but I
will make sure to try more next

Mario's East Side Saloon |
5442 Walnut Street Pittsburgh, PA 15232 Phone: 412-681-3713
Once Was:Shadyside Saloon, Doc's Place
Typically my reviews don’t start with a history, but I feel like I
must in this situation.
Mario’s East Side Saloon is located at the
former location of Doc’s.
I always considered Doc’s one of the
cornerstones of Shadyside and made it a regular stop when I was in the
neighborhood to grab a drink up on the deck.
Since new management has taken over, they have done a lot of work on

Fox & Hound |
2002 Northway Mall Mcknight Road Pittsburgh, PA 15237 Phone: 412-364-1885
The Fox & Hound is a great place. If you like to shoot pool, this place has ten beautiful and well maintained pool tables. The atmosphere is very comfortable and the staff is friendly, fun, and helpful. It's can be a little pricey, but not too outrageous, however the specials make up for that. I have to make a rebuttal to those user reviews that complained about not being allowed to be loud at

Barley's & Hop's Bottle Shop |
5217 Library Road Bethel Park, PA 15102 Phone: 412-854-4253
I heard a lot about Barley's & Hop's before I went there so I started to make a picture in my mind as to what the place would look like before I even arrived there. I've been to numerous bars so I expected a typical bar, tucked away in the corner of some strip mall — but this place is pretty different. Imagine a national chain cafe, like a Panera Bread or a Caribou Coffee, but instead of
