Vaughn, I'm assuming by the title of theis thread that this discussion is about Ben's character, not necessarily whther or not he committed sexual assault. It's VERY obvious to me that Ben has some character issues and makes very poor life decisions. All of the maturity and great decision-making skill he shows on the field do not reflect in his personal life. He has never grown up since college. He just turned 28 and still insists on going to college parties and clubs that are filled with college-aged kids. I'm constently getting ribbed at work for my devotion to Ben as a player, but I'll be the first to say that he needs to grow up...Hopefully he won't be doing that in prison.
Read more of this post at Barsmart

Hammer, you're not making much sense and I can't figure out why other than you simply dislike Ben. I've read your posts in other threads and you are intelligent so it's surprising to read you saying off the cuff remarks. If you, Hammer, walk out of a bar without paying your tab. Chances are the owner of the bar doesn't know who you are and therefore can't press charges on you for theft of services. If Ben Roethlisberger walks out on a bar tab, everyone knows who he is and if somehow the owner of the bar doesn't know him, chances are very good someone there recognizes Ben. I realize that you being the owner of this website is immediately going to support the bar owners, but the fact is, people working at the bars should not give someone preferential treatment just because that person plays for the Steelers. Doesn't matter if you are Troy Polamalu, you are leaving a credit or debit card on file in my bar if you are running a tab. Simple as that. Aside from all of that, I still fail to see how there is a link between bar tabs and sexual assault. There is no connection at all. Maybe Ben did walk out on his tabs, but that absolutely doesn't mean that he sexually assaulted the woman in question. I'm going to reserve judgment and that is the right thing to do. You don't know all the facts just like I don't know all the facts. Is this investigation neutral vis-a-vis Ben's character? No, it's certainly not good, but it's very possible that he didn't do anything wrong.
Read more of this post at Barsmart

6 isn't a bad score. sometimes it might seem like it because people like the throw around the 9 and 10 scores like crazy. In my opinion a 9 or 10 should only be reserved for the best of the best.
Read more of this post at Barsmart

Some new information that sounds odd... Willie Colon's agent is saying, "The first knowledge he had was when he was stopped when leaving the place to be asked some questions."Really? Ben Roethlisber never came up to his buddy and said, "Hey, I was diddling some chick in the bathroom and she fell and hit her head." Maybe I'm odd, but if my friend was in town partying with me in a bar, and I happened to be fooling around with a girl in the bathroom who then fell and hit her head, I'd likely say something to him about it.Also two local state police officers were with Ben "on vacation." A lawyer for one of the men is saying, "They saw absolutely nothing that would indicate any crime was committed that weekend. They are a little bit shocked that this is even happening because they saw nothing criminal."Now there are 3 people that Ben was hanging out with who he never mentioned this stuff to? He has admitting to sexual shenanigans in the bathroom, and that she hit her head... so we can assume that happened, but why the tight-lip treatment with his friends?
Read more of this post at Barsmart

Feldman was on Larry King last night - that was quick...http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/video/22804111/index.html?source=CNNI hate this guy more and more every time he opens his mouth to try and get some press for himself. He asks - where was everyone?Well Mr. Corey Feldman where were YOU? Let me quote your own blog about the last episode of your show The Two Corey's - which you refused to continue with - putting Haim out work, "I have said it before and I will say it again, the only way I would even consider another season or anything else with CH is if he get's the help he truly needs." and "So for now we must sever ties..."If you think it's best to not support him, why are you pissed off at Hollywood or everyone else who never even met him for not being around? Then he goes on about how Haim was broke - Well I'm sure that paycheck from Season 3 would have helped him a bit.
Read more of this post at Barsmart

Agreed, this incident and his qualifications as a player are irrelevant situations.... With that being said, As a franchise player who has 2 superbowl rings, a big part of his pay, is not only based on his ability, but he is expected to follow a certain unwritten code of ethics (his contract may actually have it in, and may not, I dont know for sure, but regardless, it's common sense-- just like you don't tell your boss he's an asshole at the company christmas party, just something you don't do). That being said, being who he is, he should not have to sexually assault anyone, he could get more tail legitimately in one evening than any of us could in a lifetime. and again, for what he gets paid, he should use some discretion.I love how his attorney said (forgive the paraphrasing) that he will come out of this without any negative impact to his character, or his career ... read between the lines, and we are talking one huge a$$ payola! The biggest problem now, he will face, innocent or guilty, is he is labelled now... and dont think for a second this will be the last you will hear of someone claiming charges against him. Esp, if they know there is a payout involved. Not right in my book, but it's reality
Read more of this post at Barsmart

Umm if I didn't know the owner and walked out of a bar - how would they press charges?Using the police in these matters is nearly impossible unless the guy is stopped at the door and detained. Do you want to be the bar on the news who is identified as "The bar that gave Ben a hard time after he won us two super bowls???"Either way the question is a bit irrelevant - the dude walks out on his bar tabs and stiff servers who worked for him all night. Even if he paid his tab, he's still a jerk for stiffing the server.
Read more of this post at Barsmart

KDKA is claiming they know what Ben Roethlisberger said to police immediately after the alleged sexual assault. Here is his version of the story according to them."When Roethlisberger talked to police the night of the event he told them there was no sexual intercourse. He did have sexual contact with the woman but it was not consummated. He said he did not force himself on the woman, but she did fall and hit her head."So she fell, this isn't looking good at all for Ben, why he even talked to the cops in the first place is beyond me... He should have shut up and got a lawyer.KDKA Video
Read more of this post at Barsmart

And they are still at it... this time hitting a beer distributor. Of course it is a locally owned joint and not a Giant Eagle, or Wegmans. You know, come to think of it - I wonder how many of those bottles at the liquor store are properly registered... hmmmPennsylvania State Police have staged another beer raid, confiscating about a dozen cases from a leading distributor in Northeast Philadelphia and ordering it to stop selling several well-known imports, including Duvel, a popular Belgian beer sold throughout the Philadelphia region.Agents from the State Police Department's Bureau of Liquor Code Enforcement (BLCE) descended Monday night on Origlio's Beverage, a wholesale distributor in the Far Northeast whose primary brands include Coors and Yuengling. The police seized about a dozen cases from a small California beermaker, Russian River Brewing Co., and ordered Origlio's to stop selling Duvel and other beers, including Hacker-Pschorr, Paulaner and Monk's Cafe Ale, developed in Belgium for the Philadelphia bar at 16th and Spruce streets. As in armed raids conducted last week against three Philadelphia taprooms, the State Police alleged that the targeted beers were not properly registered with the state Liquor Control Board for sale in Pennsylvania - a process involving limited paperwork and a $75 fee.The sketchy evidence available suggests that several of the beers in fact had been properly registered, and related liquor taxes had been paid.philly.com
Read more of this post at Barsmart

Please note I am very careful to say "sexual assault" and not rape. Usually whenever someone starts off saying he raped someone I know they are kinda clueless, and the reality of the situation is that it doesn't matter who charged him with these things - the girls or the cops - because being found guilty in either way makes him and this entire city look bad. So are you now blaming bars for Ben walking out without paying? I don't understand. In you defense of someone not paying for something, you say it is the fault of person who sold it? That makes no sense even if you throw in a lot of "Well I mean, I err, they could have tried something different."It boils down to this. Ben has, more than once, ordered hundreds of dollars worth of drinks (bottle room, drinks for friends, etc...) and walked right the hell out without paying.Nevermind that I often walk into bars and run a tab without a card. I'd like to think I'm a celeb, but really it happens a often in a lot of places. Also - I ALWAYS PAY MY TAB. One time I didn't and I called a friend who was there to pay it for me and then I paid him the next day.I don't bug celebs when I see them either. I think it's kinda rude. However, I also don't think that someone bugging him gives him an excuse to give shit to girls who do ask him for a picture or autograph. Basically - your reply looks like excuses for bad behavior... "Well if they had asked for his card first... " "Well just because he is famous he shouldn't be bugged...""Nothing has been proven yet...""He may not have known that girl was under 21" (He did BTW.) Even if 1/2 of what you say is a good excuse for bad behavior, he's still starting to become an embarrassment, and there are hundreds of other NFL players who aren't making the paper every post season for something stupid. Why is that?
Read more of this post at Barsmart
