Niko's is a nice getaway on Shiloh. While the other bars may be packed like sardines, Niko's offers a super casual environment with great nightly specials/events and good food. Pros are: very nice staff, pool table, cheap drinks & cheap, good food. Cons: cash only & smoking allowed. Their food sales are less than the percentage that would outlaw smoking. Bummer.

If you're looking for a chill bar away from the typical hussle bussle of Shiloh, Niko's is for you!

It's been a while since I wrote a review. So here comes another one.
I used to not like going up to Niko's back when it was Michaels. Well in the past 5 years the name isn't the only thing that's changed. The place has been revamped. Walls taken out...it's more open, more colorful. The tv's have all been updated. They have 8 or 9 flat screens all 36" or larger. The food is an eagle in my book. Better than average bar food.
Bathrooms are clean and kept up. No insects or vermin of any kind running or flying around. The bartender knows your drink on your 3rd of 4th visit. It's really a "Cheers" like atmosphere. And, it's catching on. It has gotten busier and busier over the past few years.
Niko's is definitely a regulars bar. People who go there, go there almost every night. They live within walking distance. Most of which are service industry folks, so needless to say, this is a late busy bar. It gets busy after 12.
Now for the important stuff:
My experience at Cafe Niko's is always good.
Drinks are always awesome. They do have frosty mugs too.
Food is awesome!
Dena, Jimmy, Vicki and Cathy are all great bartenders.
Once in a while the bartenders get sucked into a conversation and you may have to wait an extra 30 seconds, but this is a regulars bar so you either get used to it or get out. Don't be a newbe and think you're gonna walk in and own the place, because it ain't happening. You have to earn your place here. ;)
I suggest this place to everyone. Like I said, when I used to go there 10 years ago, I didn't like it. When I started djing there 3 years ago, I did it as a favor and really didn't want to do it. But in the past 3 years, not only have I learned to like the place...it is my favorite bar now. I love the people who come there. It's a great bar. I suggest you become a regular now. Memberships are limited(jk). ;0)

I really liked the variety on the menu in this place. Lots of big screens to watch the game on and very good service. Place was packed but not crowded. Give it an A+ for cleanliness as well.

Niko's is one of the best kept secrets on Shiloh St. It may look like your average neighborhood bar, but on any given night there you will find the most entertaining and friendly assortment of people! From locals to art school kids who are there for the karaoke ( wed & sun nites) it's always a new, fun & unexpected evening at Niko's. (ask if Braindead is working in the kitchen, the wings are worth the wait!!)

Not a bad place... Remodeled since the last time I was in, and the new look (and the new pool table) definitely bring it up a few notches. Prices are extremly reasonable, food available, and Karaoke on Wednesday and Sunday are big hits I'm told.

Note This bar has changed ownership/re-opened since this review was written.
This was a review for when this establishment was known as "Michael's".
