Rugger's sits across from a sports park on the far end of the Southside. You have to go back a couple blocks but the large friendly sign keeps your from getting lost, and the cheap drink prices help to keep you coming back again and again. Actually I'd have to give the bartender a lot of credit for making this place a worthy stop in the sea of ho-hum Southside bars. She was extremely upbeat and friendly, and she was quick with the drinks as well. In fact everyone in the bar was a lot of fun and they seemed very open to seeing new faces in the bar. To top it all off the jukebox has an amazing selection of rock and alternative CD's, including some of the weird stuff you never expect to see on a jukebox. During the summer Rugger's has an open air deck that does not boast much of a view and is small, but it is a wonderful place to relax and get away from everyone for a while. This is a great bar before, during, or after the game.

I had heard about Ruggers from a dear friend and finally I dragged myself up there. My only problem is trying to figure out why it took me so long to do it. I went in after work for happy hour and every staff member I came in contact with was incredibly nice and helpful. I wound up staying through dinner and had the soup and sandwich which were excellent. They have a great beer selection and the bartender helped me navigate it as I am new at trying craft beers. She was very knowledgeable about what they had in stock and recommended exactly what I would like. The atmosphere is absolutely perfect for anyone who loves a good ball game, everywhere you look there are supporters from one team or another and all the memorabilia on the walls really brings it all together perfectly. The entire place is clean and very well taken care of, bathrooms are clean which is a plus especially when dealing with drunk sports fans sometimes. Like I said earlier, I don't know what took me so long to visit Ruggers but you better believe I'll be back.

A cool little dive bar for a change of pace, but nothing special. I used to go to their burger night almost every week, but then I found Coppertops and like their's better. The burgers are really good, but rugger's isn't as nice and they would burn the fries to a crisp literally every week (even when we would ask them not to when we ordered).

NOW OPEN ON SUNDAYS! First review so it will be messy.
One of my favorite bars. Friendly bartenders who pay attention so you wont be waiting forever for a drink.
Great food from your typical bar munchies to salads to awesome and large sandwiches. A wide selection of beers and liquor. I play softball of Sunday at the field across the street and pop over for their wings and beer. Awesome wings I highly recommend them. Check it out. It's a nice hole in the wall type bar but it's super clean. Easy to find parking any day of the week. Plenty of TVs. Enough seating for 20 people or so. So go check it out!

Now THIS is your typical 'Cheers' type bar if ever there was one in the 'Burgh. I've been here a few times and have always enjoyed it. The 2nd time I was ever there, I walked in and Cowboy, the bartender, remembered my name and what I drank. That's impressive as this bar does get crowded with the local men and women rugby teams that visit. The place is small but you're not jam packed in here like the other SouthSide bars.

The drinks are pretty cheap as well and they have pretty good bar food as well. The jukebox is off the hook with some of the most eclectic stuff I've heard in ages. You tell me where you can find Molly Hatchet, The Clarks and Tori Amos on a jukebox in any other bar around here!

You don't have to struggle to find a parking spot or worry about parallel parking. It's off the beaten path but easy to find; just look for the bright yellow 'Ruggers' sign.

Next time you there, ask Cowboy for the 'Green Demon' drink. It's vicious but OH SO GOOD!
