Dee's Café is a landmark in the South Side. Its afternoon and nighttime patrons are as different as, and pardon me for this, night and day. During the daylight hours you can will notice that everything is relaxed and quiet, but at night things really pick up when the younger crowd takes over. Dee's is divided up into three distinct areas, all of which have close access to a bar area. The first section is the main café area, which looks like almost every bar in the south side, except that there are comfortable booths to relax in. The second area is where most of the pool tables are located. From here you can easily access the bar via a very well tended ordering window, in fact, on a busy night, it's usually the place to get a drink the fastest. The upstairs of Dee's has it's own bar, and bathroom so you don't have to continually use the stairs, however you can't bring a pitcher from downstairs with you for some reason. The security here is rated high because have a security team that knows what they are doing. The bad news is that Dee's bathrooms are fairly small, and could use a good overhaul, and, you can't smoke cloves, pipes, and cigars anywhere in the bar. This is a no-frills bar that is easy on the wallet, if not on the eyes.

Go for the great older lady that works there in the daytime. I don't remember her name but she is the best bartender in Pittsburgh. Plus she cooks food on the grill right there all the while dealing with the type of people that come in to drink at 1:00PM. Try to sit upwind of some of the patrons and you'll be fine.

This is my home away from home. I live on the slopes, and have over 100 bars to choose from, but I always go to Dee's. A lot of the reviews on here regarding this bar seem to revolve around the attitude of the bartenders. Most people, however, are not aware that the majority of these women have worked in Dee's over 20 years. Judy, Nikki, Gerry and the others are main reason I keep coming back. They've been through all the crazy s**t Carson Street throws at them, and they've seen every kind of drunk imaginable. They may be bitchy at times, but they keep the trash out and can spot drama before it starts. This is the only bar on the southside where you can hang out with friends, see the same people on a regular basis, hear kick-ass music, relax, enjoy yourself and normally not have to worry about drama.

There's no uniform at Dee's. Suits, Fishnets, Mohawks, Hippies, Goth, Punk, School Girl, Preppy...You name it, we got it. It's just a cool place to be with cool people.

If you don't like this bar, there are 100 others you can go to on the southside. Otherwise, I'll see you at Dee's my friends!

This is my favorite "mellow" bar. I cant say that the bartendars are nice at all. but its a relaxing atmosphere if you want to socialize. I go there a lot. But quite honestly I think the bartendars are too bitchy. Prices are great though on beer. Mixed drinks a little pricey for me!

Don't go to Dee's. I'm not sure what kind of clientelle would find this place amusing but you will certainly not find me there. The bouncer in the front is some ex-high school jock on a power trip and the place looks like it hasn't been cleaned since ever. Didn't even get all the way to the bar before we were totally turned off by the attitude of the employees.

JK go next door to the moose.... never drink and drive!!!!!

Last weekend was my first time going down to the "South Side" and this is where I went, and I must say I had a great time, the drinks were great(and cheap) and the people where friendly a couple people came up and just started talking to you, very friendly environment and great atmosphere, I loved the Jukebox thingy too because you can play HIM, and of course HIM owns. I recommend going here if you havent.

My favorite bar that's not the Upstage. Eventhough my visits are few and far between, I always manage to run into someone I know here. It's always good to me.

I love Dee's! This bar isn't for everyone though, its just a big hangout for kids to chill and shoot pool and whatnot. Not a place if you are looking to "pick up chicks" or use cheesy pick up lines....go to Fat Heads if you wanna do that(not that i don't like Fat Heads!). The overall atmosphere is awesome though, I love the beat up chairs and bar stools and the juke box that uses vinyl records with nothing from before 1985!!! They have super sweet murals on the walls in the pool room and really big, comfortable booths in the main cafe area. The beer prices are relativly cheap(2 bux for a 16oz Yuengling draft!), I can get drunk twice as fast there compared most other bars! hahaa they also have a monthly bottled special that usually costs $1.50(this month is Miller Lite). So check it out if you just are looking for a cheap and fun place to hang out.

I’ve been going to Dees for years and years and it hasn’t changed a bit. It’s a great place to get some cheap … cheap drinks. I think I paid $3.00 for a mixed drink with Stoli! You will save a lot if you drink there before you go to a club. Throughout the years the bar has never lost its charm. I hear the food is good, but I haven’t been brave enough to order anything.

Dee's Cafe is unique in the South Side: it combines the size of the upscale bars with the feel of the tiny corner dives. Open seven days a week, there are pool tables, pinball and darts in the back room, and a new, internet-based jukebox in the front. Thursday through Sunday the upstairs is open - more pinball, more pool, but no drafts. The downstairs crowd changes drastically on Friday and Saturday nights after 11:00 p.m. - young professionals and college kids filter in for a few cheap drinks after spending most of their money earlier at more expensive venues. The rest of the time, you can usually find locals of all shapes sizes and age - Dee's is a place anyone can go to.
