Located near the entrance to the Homestead Waterfront, just across the tracks from the mega-chain restaurants and shopping congestion, is Blue Dust. Quite honestly one of the best places to eat and drink in the entire Waterfront area.
Sure you can go visit the mega-chain multinational restaurants located in the middle of shopping paradise, but if you don't stop in to at least give Blue Dust a try than you are doing your taste buds a disservice.
Blue Dust has a secret to great food - in the kitchen is a smoker where they smoke just about everything. The usual stuff like beef and turkey and the stuff that makes you wish you had thought of that like salsa.
Yeah. I'm saying try the salsa. It comes with a lot of dishes, but you may as well just order a side of salsa and chips. I myself ordered a container to go so I could share with friends at a house party.
The beer selection is not just large, but well rounded. A lot of beer bars will specialize in ales and others in hefeweizens, but Blue Dust likes to spread it around. The include a scotch ale from this brewer, a stouts from that country, and even a moderate selection of the big market beers. I like this because I'm often in bars with people who don't like to explore beer flavors, and it's nice to not have to worry about what they can drink.
Oh and I almost forgot to mention that they infuse spirits here too. My personal favorite is the horseradish infused vodka bloody mary, but the bacon burbon is quite nice as well. I don't want to list their infusions here because some of the flavors change, and quite honestly, one of the best things about this service is that you never know what to expect!
If you are looking to explore and to experiment and to know for sure your money is going to be well spent - park your car behind Blue Dust (they have their own lot) and stop in for an hour or so. Let the knowledgeable staff make suggestions, explore the 1/2 dozen beer coolers, check out the relaxed yet fun atmosphere. If you are anything like me, you will end up being a regular.
