Went with a friend to Dive bar for happy hour on a Wednesday last week...I was pleasently surprised that craft beers were $3 all day! Had a Lagunitas Holiday Ale while we waited for 5pm to arrive because ALL appetizers are 1/2 off from 5-7pm. Usually when I go to bars with that type of special your options are limited with either some type of fried vegetable, fried cheese, or wings....not Dive Bar. There is an entire page of appetizers ranging from the basics to citrus glazed scallops, deconstructed jalepeno poppers, thai chili bacon wrapped shrimp and panko crusted shrimp...just to name a few. I had the loaded croquettes, which is panko crusted potato pancakes topped with pulled pork-cheddar cheese-sour cream and green onions. You get three of them...so needless to say for $4 I was completely stuffed. My friend had the reuben egg rolls...which is literally a reuben inside an egg roll...delicious and genius all at the same time.
The interior is very inviting and comfortable. They have a big couch almost looking like a VIP area with a fire raging in the fireplace. The service was pretty darn good. The bartender was friendly and easy to shoot the breeze with....not to mention pretty cute too! ;) Sorry it helps...especially on a Wednesday lol!
There were a couple things that kinda irked me about the place. One was the stools at the bar were very uncomfortable. I'm sure they're all art deco or fung sui or whatever...but they hurt my butt. Pretty much says hurry up and have an app and beer and peace out before your butt goes numb in our chairs. LoL! And sorry but I have very long legs and my knees were jammed up against the bar. It's either sit spread eagle, have jammed up knees against the bar...or not be able to reach anything on the bar( ie beer, food,my purse). They need just a little more leg room....and maybe some hooks for your purse under the bar...purses take up precious drinking space on the bar...haha.
In conclusion, Dive bar...i liked it. I'm going back next week...therefore I would definitely tell others to try it out. The selection of food and happy hour specials alone will keep me coming back. The beers are seasonal so I will never get bored with the selection....and just in case I do...there are also $3 Pinnacle vodkas, $4 wines/martinis and $2 Bud Lights...ya know if you actually LIKE bud light hahah!! Hopefully see you all at dive bar...but bring a butt cushion if you plan on staying for a bit. =)
