Here's my take on BIG PAT'S in Sharpsburg....
I was there last night for the grand opening...

Upon entering the bar I was surprised and pleased to see that it was well-lit and the walls aren't painted a dark color. The place is BRIGHT.

First Floor: Plenty of seating at the L-shaped bar and quite a few tables with seating for four at each one. There was a DJ there playing a variety of music ranging from classic rock to the latest in hip-hop and everything in between. Something for everybody. I was told that they plan on doing karaoke in the near future.
There is a kitchen that will be opening in a few weeks or so, that will offer pizza, hoagies and your normal fare of bar-foods such as wings, fries and other delicious things that can be dropped into a fryer.

Second Floor: After taking the stairs to the second floor I was completely blown away by the sight of two brand new DIAMOND pool tables. These babies go for about $4,000 each and get this... They don't have coin or bill accepters. That's right, free pool all the time. There's also an electronic dart machine and the newest Golden Tee golf game. Up here there is more seating around the pool area and another bar. The bar area is a little crowded and narrow for my liking, but it was the grand opening. There were over 500 people in and out of the place throughout the evening.

As for the staff, there were two competent bartenders on each floor, along with one or two bar-backs. They handled the crowd very well without anyone having to wait very long to get a drink. The bar-backs constantly filled the coolers and also moved around the floor picking up empties and dumping the ashtrays. Even the two owners were taking time between greeting guests to help out behind the bars and out on the floor.

The prices are very reasonable... We were drinking domestic bottles at $2.50 and I think they said imports were $2.75 & $3.00 depending on the brand... I didn't buy any mixed drinks, but did have one bought for me and it was a good mix. Not too strong but definitely more than a standard shot. There are five or six draft beers available at the downstairs bar, all domestics I believe. Upstairs they have the Guinness tap as well as three domestics on tap.

All-in-all it was a great time. I'm sure I'll be going back soon to see what it's like with only 100 people in the place. I'm sure BIG PAT'S will become the place to be in that part of town...
