The Rex Theatre is one of the neatest bars in Pittsburgh. If you haven't stopped in, make sure you do at some point in the near future. The owners/bartenders are the coolest people, and it's the type of place that welcomes everyone. It's also a great place to hear live music. They have open mic nights on Monday's and shows throughout the week. If you're just going for the drinks, don't worry, because these guys will take care of you at the bar. They aren't stingy on the mixed drinks by any means!

So, do yourself a favor and stop in! You won't regret it!

I was at the rex last friday for a friends birthday party. I had soooo much fun. A local band - Adam Alien & the Outside royalties were playing with other local artist and they absolutely rocked. I can also recommend thier open mike nights which are on Mondays. I know that tonight Chris Christopherson ( Whistler from Blade)will be appearing. Should be cool! Prices are great in my book - $2 yuengling drafts oh yeah

I really like this place. It's got a different feel to it than other venues because it used to be a movie theater. With it's two rooms it's modifiable to the event. On nights like Mondays and Tuesdays, you hang out at the bar, in what used to be the lobby. There's a mic and a grand piano set up there with an area for performers. But on nights with big bands they open large area with the stage, in what used to be the movie theater. So you can feel intimate or large and exciting. It's got enough room to dance to your bands. You can chill in the old movie theater seats (complete with cup holders for your drinks), or sit at tables. It's great for small or large shows, and the prices aren't bad. Plus they make their drinks nice and strong. I got drunk yesterday off 3 drinks alone. The guys who run it are all really nice. It's got clean bathrooms (a plus for any Southside bar) and a really exciting atmosphere. I love going there for shows or just to relax. It's great for both.
